An ACCORD for Social Transformation and Equity
Action for Community Organisation, Rehabilitation and Development
About Us
ACCORD is a social justice catalyst and a devoted partner & ally to the adivasis.
Since 1986, ACCORD has supported the Adivasis to stand up for their rights and engage with society on their own terms. Part of ACCORD’s core belief is to protect indigenous practices and knowledge and to encourage Adivasis to retain a sense of dignity and pride in their Adivasi identity.

THE RIGHT TO FIGHT FOR A FUTURE
Historically, adivasi rights have been ignored. The adivasi people have been subjected to countless injustices. Their lands, cultural identity, and means of livelihood have been snatched from them, causing widespread displacement and marginalisation.

ACCORD is a collective
response to these injustices.
Starting with human rights, we expanded our focus to meet community health, education, and economic development needs. This led to the creation of community-run institutions: ASHWINI, managing a health program with a modern 40-bed hospital; Viswa Bharathi Vidyodaya Trust, operating the Vidyodaya Adivasi School and village learning centres; and the Just Change Trust, facilitating market engagement. All these initiatives, led by the community under the AMS umbrella, have fostered a sustainable model for Adivasi self-reliance.
